LOW ACID. Vigorous med-large plants with good foliage cover. They are a flattened red thick-walled globe. Resistant to VW, FW1, ACS and cracking. Good for commercial processing or shipping as well as fresh garden. Because of its low acidity this tomato must be pressure-canned or canned with lemon juice to avoid the risk of botulism. Open Pollinated. Determinate.

Ace 55 Tomato Seeds

Ace 55 tomato heirloom seeds are known to grow into a vigorous plant that produces flattened, deep-red, thick-walled, globe-shaped tomatoes that happen to be one of the few tomato varieties that have low acid content. They are also resistant to many plant diseases like VW, FW1, and ACS, and they are surprisingly crack-resistant. Tomato Ace 55 varieties are medium to large plants that have incredibly good foliage coverage to shade and protect the fruit from sunburn. This plant is not overly tall, but it could still benefit from staking and should be expected to mature in 75 to 85 days. Superior! No kidding. These Ace 55 tomato seed have a high germination rate. I purchased my Ace 55 seeds in the summer of 2020. This spring I got a 95% germination rate. I overwatered them as seedlings and they surviviored damping off.
This spring after transplanting we got serious rain for about 2 months. The Ace 55 had a good survival there too.
Then it turned recently from 75° to 90 90° and Ace 55 is doing great.
Now the taste test on the Ace 55 tomato. The fruit is juicy and sweet. Just enough acid to give it touch of tart. But the tomato flavor is superior to so many I tried last spring.
It beat the Black Krim hands down.
On the wish list for a 2021 Fall crop of Ace 55.
