Northern Extra Sweet - Sweet Corn Seed
Northern Xtra sweet corn is a delicous sweet corn variety that is fantastic for fresh eating, canning, or freezing. This early yellow sweet corn develops fantastic flavor when isolated from non-Sh varieties. To avoid cross-pollination plant at least 250 in. away from non-Sh varieties or try planting sunflowers. Sunflowers are great corn companions and can be used for a beautiful border or to protect the corn from cross-pollination. Plant Northern Xtra sweet corn seeds after the last frost in spring and allow 67 days to maturity. This type of sweet corn can tolerate cool soil, but will do best in deep, well-drained fertile soil in a full sun location. Plant seeds in blocks of at least 4 rows allowing 36 in. between each row. Harvest soon after silks develop and enjoy the tasty supersweet yellow kernels throughout summer!
